The Workshop is a dynamic writing program designed for young and adult writers ready to explore their writing in creative, critical, and socially engaged ways. We offer personalized writing pathways beyond school assignments and typical tutoring—here, you’ll find a space to express what matters to you and engage with the people and places around you through writing.

At the core of our program is the belief that writing is a social practice. This means that the writing we do isn’t just about the individual—it’s about the public and place and reflecting on culture, engaging in dialogue, and finding ways to make your voice heard about issues and ideas that matter. Whether you're interested in writing essays, poetry, multimedia projects, or even contributing to an oral history project like our Young People's Archive, we help you explore and deepen your ideas in ways that connect with the public.

Our coaching sessions are fully online and personalized to meet your needs, with flexible schedules based on your goals. You’ll read a wide range of materials—from graphic novels, poetry, and music to creative nonfiction and journalism—and use these texts to broaden your perspective and sharpen your writing. Our goal is to help you build the skills and practice to write with clarity, confidence, creativity, and purpose.

The Workshop’s writing coaches are here to help you discover your voice and make your words matter. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to take your writing to the next level, The Workshop offers pathways for everyone—including adults of any age through our Poetry Pathway and other specialized programs.
